Into Valhalla

A summer of hiking, canoeing, & camping

I grew up in the shadows of these mountains, felt their wild and rugged pull. These were the first hikes I did as a kid, the first swims, the first camps. These are the mountains of home. It always feels really good going back, but this year felt a little extra special. This year we came with a car.

We went on three trips into the Valhallas, each time experiencing the range in a different way. We went on a day hike up onto Bannock Ridge overlooking the mighty granite slabs of some of the parks most signature peaks. We did our annual 5 day canoe trip down the lake in beautifully cold and rainy weather. And then we hiked up into Gwillim Lakes in dark days of heavy smoke.
