West Coast Trail
Five days of fog and forests
The West Coast Trail is an almost mythic hike. Years before the trip I would read about the pounding rain, deep mud, endless ladders, and deep-gutted ravines and was equal parts hesitant and thrilled to tackle it. But it always lingered in the back of my mind to maybe eventually do. One day.
And then we did. And, perhaps for the best, we did it almost on impulse. A bright warm week of early autumn opened up and we went for it.
It's a brilliant hike, and I can't wait to visit it again.
